I have in my possession a Savage musket that was used during the Civil War. It is missing the second and third barrel bands. Are all the bands on these muskets the same size or are they specific to the brand of musket? Wanting to replace these bands but cannot find any listing for the Savage musket. Looks to be a .62 cal.
 
No idea, but throw up some pics. We love pics around here and it could possibly help someone answer your question.
 
The bands are standardized and interchangeable for each model. Examples are all 1842s take the same bands, 1861s including contract guns, take the same bands and so on. Reproduction bands and new old stock parts are available for most US Civil War muskets. Is your Savage an 1861 pattern in .58 caliber? I have a custom built 1861 Springfield leaning in the corner which was built entirely with reproduction parts except for a few internal lock parts.
 
Sorry it took so long to get back. Life gets in the way sometimes. The lock is marked 1863and the bore measures .605. Figure it’s a .62 cal. It’s been in the same family since the civil war. The bore is clean and awful tempted to load a small blank load and make some smoke.

Wondered about the bore. Don’t know what happened to the other two bands. This gun belongs to my brother-in-law. It was his great-great grandfathers. Found a place to get the bands but he don’t think he wants to spend the money for them.
