SOLD - Pending funds Centermark French Fusil

Hello ALL. Still have to continue thinning the herd. I really hate selling this one, and have to do it before I change my mind. LOL

GUN: As per above. In excellent condition.

LOCK: Sparks perfect. A real shower.

STOCK: I'm not good with wood, but appears to be walnut (?) - with a nice figure. Re-finished with Aquafortis. Not even handling marks. The grain shows through wonderful.

BARREL: 41.5" in .62 caliber (20-gauge). Octagon, tapered and fading to multi-faceted, to two thin rings, and tapering further to round. Great looking barrel. Turtle front sight. Bore is excellent. Both wet and dry patches move easily.

MOUNTS: All iron. With a light aged finish. Weight: 8-lbs. on a bathroom scale.

CONCLUSION: I purchased this gun many years ago at a local gun show. Functionally, it was fine. But had a stock stain color that looked like.....well.....poop brown to me. (I think that term was coined by Mike Brooks originally LOL). So had the stock refinished. I think it looks good now. I've only fired this gun like 3 times. So never pursued any real time with it. IMHO the tang of the butt plate could have been inlet a bit more proud of the butt stock. Also, the end of the ramrod was blocked by the front bolt of the lock not allowing the rod to enter the stock completely. But that was an easy fix by just tapering the end of the rod. All in all, a really nice fowler that hasn't been available for many years. Price: $1,350.00 - shipped to the lower 48 states. Sorry, not interested in trades. I should have included this in my first Post. LOP with the trigger all the way forward comes to about 14.25".

By the way, what looks like a larger vent hole is only half-way through the barrel. The inner half is smaller. Looks like about 1/16. I can measure. Sort of a home made form of a cone. No problem with ignition the few times I shot it.

Thanks Sooty. Yes, they balance very nice. Not muzzle heavy.
The original stain covered up much of the figure in the wood. The Aquafortis really brought it out.

Still no bites ?? Lets go with $1,150.00 - shipped to the lower 48-states. I would think that the price of a similar "kit" would cost this much today.
