Can black obsidian be used as gun flint?

All that I have used for arrowheads has been fragile co pared to flint. I think it would work, but not last long.

NO! Obsidian is volcanic glass and would shatter if trying to use it as a flint!
I don't think you would get sparks even if it didn't shatter. Like other types of glass, obsidian is 5-5.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. The hardened steel of a frizzen should about 6.5. Flint, chert, agate are all forms of quartz, which has a hardness of 7. So they are hard enough to scrape little bits off the steel to make sparks.
