I think most everybody on here has a good enough moral compass to recognize true hate. Honestly, to me, hate speech and hate crime has been thrown around so extravagantly that it often seems to just be used as a buzzword to exert control over others. The term Disinformation as well. But, gotta acknowledge that those things do truly exist.
Weird, eh?
Unfortunately, dissenting views can get pretty provocative and some of us can get steamed and choose to respond poorly. Sometimes I have to wait quite a while and take some time to write how I want to put something. And even then I'm sometimes not real comfortable with my response/input.
I'm a member on another forum that, when I joined, was a great, active place. Over the years the activity has died off although the forum is still running. Can't figger out why but there was some judgement and comments that may have turned people off, even if not directed at them. As the song goes "Avoid loud and aggressive persons - they are vexations to the spirit".
My wife's bestie is one of the superior spirits. I only messed up once and snapped on her, she doesn't go down that road around me anymore. We went camping together a while ago and the Trump dogpile started. When the 34 convictions came up, I mildly asked them to explain the basis for the convictions. Crickets. Appears to have been equally effective both ways.
As for the member who recently appeared to be a mod for a very short time, I sometimes wonder if he might be Trump's most fervent supporter but likes to rile up people as much as he can. If so, he must giggle like a hyena every time he hits "post". Too much strain writing this post, I must be losing it.
