T.Walton

I have a T. Walton 10 gauge sxs muzzle loading percussion shot gun. I can not find information as to the manufacturer. I will attach pictures of some of the proof markings.

While the bigger mark looks vaigley like the Birmingham Provisional proof the crowns make no sense & there is no T Walton in Bailey & Nies listings of Birmingham or Provincial firm's . Any other marks like crossed maces ?. Rudyard

I nothing representing maces. Attached is a pic depicting all of the markings I see

Then its a mystery T Walton likely a retailer .Sorry cant help further Looks very rough workman ship Regards Rudyard

Most likely fake proof marks I have noticed this happens on altered antiques and new made reproes in the States something which you rarely see in the UK and against the UK law which here if caught will surly end up with a jail sentence.

Sir I respect your opinion, however, if this gun is a fake then it has been for over 100 years as it belonged to my grandfather and has been handed down generation by generation. So I feel pretty sure these marks are original to this firearm.

I did not say the gun is a fake but the proof marks are not correct and been added at a later date . Maybe the gun is either import in or American made has there was no proof house and stamped with fake English, proof marks at a later date .also the name is not recorded in English gun maker most name s that are not recorded are Birmingham made and retailed by ironmongers . Has you say the gun is a family heirloom so I understand how you feel but if the gun is in good condition enjoy shooting it and not be offend on my remarks concerning the proof marks
