i plan on removing the band and replacing it, since its a bit rusted and a bit busted, so i pulled out the nails, but now im stumped with these two big pieces holding it all together. any advice on how to remove these?
thanks in advance!

Here’s one trick, cut a screw type hose clip in two ad attach the seperate bits to-the band well past where you want the join, use solder or a really strong glue [for easier clean up] then drill and pin the band through the joint well into the wood.
They could well be copper rivets but there does appear to be the remains of a slot in one.
