My question is if a rifle, hammer type, was fitted with an inline type nipple for small pistol primers, would that have necessitated drilling out and re tapping the hole, thus making it difficult if not impractical to go back to a std nipple?

As long as the previous owner just swapped the regular nipple for the mag-spark, should be straightforward to change it back -although if it's been in there a long time might need a little soak in penetrating oil to free it.

The nipple replacement that used a small pistol primer has been made for a ling time now. I see some mention of them going back to 2004. Seems to be called Accra Shot. Everybody who used them soon quit using them.Very difficult to keep working it seems. It seems to be nearly a dead end.

Percussion is fine. I have several.
It is the mere mention of an inline type of nipple and small pistol primers that gets my ire up. Nothing "traditional' about that. Might as well be cussing out the Pope as far as I'm concerned. There are other forums for discussing such things.
