70 grains powder, 1 1/8 oz #8 shot. 4 over powder from cereal box i cut with a punch put over the powder 2 cards ovee shot. 25 yds. Looks ok. Was short on time. Also tried round ball at 25 yard pistol outdoors range. High and to the left.

Looks very good, try 3 cards under shot
And /or bump up the powder a little more to see if you can get more even spread. A very good pattern any way you cut it, but it's a little heavy on the lower half

I would be thrilled with that pattern-- even from a modern unmentionable. Is that a greased pattern board? I have seen them but never used one. Looks like a very nice range you have there.
Yes it is. Ive never seen or heard of them until that day. It's fantastic range. There archery skeet, pistol rifle 100 yards to 200 yards. Cost for the day $6. Military veterans first responders law enforcement $3. Open wed-sunday. Best part its close to where i live. If i want shoot our on desert its over 30 miles one way.

What is the purpose of a greased patterning board? And whaddya do ... ? Swipe it with a squeegee or something after each shot?

I get that's it resuable, without replacing cardboard or paper ... just want to know the principle behind it. Thank! I really like the concept!

Re usable. Dont have to change paper after every couple shots. Take paint roller that has grease on it roll the board effectively erase pattern fresh target. Repait if you will

Thak you for the suggestion. Next time i go out I'll try that. Got windy as a storm was rolling in. So after the shotgun range i headed to the pistol/75 yard range. To try round ball in my shotgun. At 25 yards definitely need to practice. I have a tc flintlock i may bore out to smooth bore.

My Navy likes 65 grs 3f, 1 oz. doesn't seem to matter what combination of over shot card or over powder card I use. I don't use a cushion wad. All I shoot is skeet.
