I took a small buck a week ago and recovered the ball just under the hide in a quartering to shot.
I was amazed at how similar this ball looked to one from a test I did on water bottles this spring.
Both balls maintained essentially 100% of their weight.
Results below.
all balls .445" Speer swaged.

Starting weight 132.8 grains
Through approximately 24" of deer 132.5 grains retained weight.
Through 17" of water bottles 132.6 grains retained weight.
Deer bullet .005" more expansion than test ball below
Both balls larger than 20 Guage .615" when expanded
