I just got this lock in a box of misc. parts at a gun auction. The only mark I see is what appears to be "rr" in a circle. Can you identify the maker and age? Thanks. IMG_4462.JPGIMG_4463.JPGIMG_4464.JPGIMG_4465.JPGIMG_4471.JPG

Hmmmm. RR or JJ? Looks like it could be cleaned up and returned to service, but just a guess. Lock bolt is broken off in the bolster and a missing screw.

I'm relatively certain it will return to service. It is functioning, but it barely holds in the half cock position. A couple passes with a file should fix that. I have a brother who builds rifles, but only flintlocks, so, when I figure out what this is, it will probably be for sale.

That lock appears to be from a double barrel shotgun. The tip of the sear has been broken off as well as the damage to the tumbler. Coat it with oil while you figure out what to do with it.
