I would like to add a sling to my Pedersoli brown bess carbine. What I need to know is does the front sling bar absolutely need to go through the front barrel tennon? there is plenty room to put the swivel so it would not interfere with the rammer or block it without having to put it through the tennon and if I can avoid that I would like to.

you know they used a lug for a reason. Just pinning the swivel through the forestock is a recipe for a broken forestock.

Front swivels should have their own barrel lug.
