Just ordered my yearly Dixie Catalog. Haven't ordered from them in years, just a habit I got into back in the 60's!

Anyone else ordered it yet? it's a Fall ritual for me.

Between Dixie catalog and the old Herter's catalog, you can see both of them would have been great politcians, by their ability to pull the wool!

Loved reading the back pages of the old ones. I remember an article to make aerial fireworks out of a 20 gauge shell fired in a 12 gauge shotgun. Lots of GREAT ideas back then...

I've got one maybe 30 years old. Half their stuff is out of stock and I only use the tables in the back of it.

other than the covers , pretty much only thing that changes on the inside are the prices.same ole pics.

I picked up one last time I was up there. It has an interesting "dated" feel to it - the way things were before the internet, I guess...

Those southern belle ladies minding the front desk are sugar sweet, oh my goodness. I wish that angry owner dude would let me touch and photograph that original soddy-daisy/smr/whatever he has on display that I like. "NO!". ~~What a as__le.~~ Conscience: now Stanley, be nice...

I stopped by and got mine a few weeks ago. The catalog is about the only thing I can afford to buy there nowadays. Percussion caps were $18.95 for a tin of 100!! Limit 2.

I wonder why they even have that row of guns out (on the wall to your immediate right as you come in the door); you can just barely see them in that dark showroom. Why tempt us and keep us from looking/studying? Put them away for crying out loud.

The old catalogs were a HOOT to read along with the pictures and their captions!!!!!!!!!! :ghostly:

Some or most of the info in the back was mostly folk lore with some BS mixed in but back then I did not know any better.

That would be 28 ga. A 20 will lodge in the barrel of a 12 and cause a barrel obstruction.

I added 300 miles to my round trips between Texas and Ohio so I could swing by Union City, Tennessee in the 80's. Two trips a year each way kept me well stocked.

The new catalogs don't have that "old time feel" to its content like the older catalogs had. Those older catalogs "talked" to you on a personal level with heart and soul of an old grandfather talking to his grandkids of the "good old days" :dunno:

The last one that I ordered and still have, was the 1995 Richard Petty addition. I have a couple older that that one.
