Welcome from Upstate New York's Central-Leatherstocking Region.
Always impressed with Islanders. THE ADMIRAL and I tooled around in a 34 foot sailboat and felt pretty independent . . . but actually making it work 365/24/7 with such isolation is VERY admirable (at least to me). We sold the boat and bought a hobby farm and can go months without power if necessary. Have gone weeks without power after bad storms so we are confident we have it covered. It's a state of mind as well as a way of life.
Problem I see with an island . . . what do you hunt? I'd think you'd be on a fishing forum. ;-)
