Inherited a TC Renegade .54 cal last year and Montana has a newish late heritage muzzleloader season that any unfilled tags transfer to. Filled my elk and antelope tag during general season and am hoping to find a buck to kill with the renegade next week. I've been shooting a fair bit the last month and feel very comfortable at 50 yards and pretty comfortable at 100 using round balls, patch, and 80 grains of 3f goex. Still room for improvement but I think I can get it done. Excited to get out there!

Welcome from Upstate New York's Central-Leatherstocking Region.

I own a .54 Renegade myself. Very accurate rifle. I settled on 84 grains (the standard "military" load for the .54 Harper's Ferry was 3 drams = 84 grains).

Good to know! I've been using 80 grains with pretty good results. Tried to go up to 90 today and it blew my patch apart and didn't shoot well. Maybe i'll give 84 a try for good measure!

Welcome from Central MT! ....I'll be shooting a .54 this weekend as well!

Welcome, I have been shooting my .54 Renegade for so long I can't tell you how many deer I downed with it. Mine likes 70 grs 2F with a .530 rb and 110 grs 2F with a maxi. Good luck on your hunt.

If a big buck gets inside 50 yards, it could charge and attack in a second😁! Make that shot count and save yourself! Welcome from Michigan!
