Is anyone making a reasonably priced underhammer pistol? Looking for something like a ruggles patent just don’t want to pay through the nose for it. I don’t really care if the barrel is included or not I’m just looking for the hammer, trigger, spring(s) and the breech plug. Everything I’ve seen has been like $150<. Anyone have an old beater they want to get rid of? Not really looking to buy this very moment otherwise I’d post in the classifieds. Thank you

Pecatonica River shows a Hopkins and Allen type receiver for $185. They are intended for a rifle, but maybe could be made into a pistol.
You don't get much for $150 today, in gun stuff (or groceries).

I was looking at them the other day but they don’t look like anything I could modify into a pistol like what I was intending. Thank you though

Why not try to build some by Yourself , as I did and do ?

Only things You need is :

-a sample , which You try to copy
-a cutoff of an old barrel , ( or a good new one )
-some O1 - steel ,
-a torch for hardening/tempering ,
-basic tools like ( lots of ) files and a drill with some drill bits ,
-some thread cutters ,
-emery paper in different grains
-linseed oil for the finish
-elbow grease and LOTS of tinker experience ...

WELL - even ME , who has alredy built close to two dozen similar pistols , need ca 40 hours plus for building such a "primitive" pistol

BUT - what a feeling , when it finally comes out right and performs like a charm !

GOOD LUCK !

I’ve been piecing together the stuff to do it myself for a little while just like a little more precision than me just making everything from scratch

Enfield - those pistols are beautiful! - Have you ever considered making a side hammer version? Maybe with the hammer pivot ahead of the nipple so that the nipple can be moved back quite a ways. The barrel can be longer with the overall length of the pistol the same. Maybe the lock could be on the left side for a right handed shooter?
Just some thoughts.
