Nope. Not at all. Especially when it's so cold the diesel fuel for the heater jells.

I remember camping with cousins in PA and sleeping in a smaller Army tent.
The canvas smell was unforgettable, even after 60+ years!
Good memories for me!

Not sure if that's better than the uninsulated tin cans we had our cots set up in. Nothing like the stench of 50 men drenched in sweat at 0200 after eating MREs for weeks.

One of those was our mess hall at Ft Gordon in Jan 67, there were so many of us going through basic at the time that our real mess hall only held the officers and NCOs. Ours had a smudgy coal stove in the middle and a DI circulating among the table shouting "EAT and Get Out" over and over. This is where I learned how to eat a complete meal in 3 minutes, it took me 20 years to learn to slow down and actually enjoy a meal.

Been there, Camp Wilson in June with the heat, the tanks, and all the yellowjackets around the water buff.
