So who were the "gang", or friends? No names? No names, no friends.,..or gang. Think.......
Sooo...if Bonney wasnt shot...who was dead on the ground after the shooting? Isnt that probably the real question? Sure would be to the guy shot...And where and why did Bonney disappear to all the sudden? He sure didn't try to hide before hand. It is hard to believe that a lifetime hardened criminal suddenly became an angel and dissapeared.

Daveboone in Brushy interview with Morrison he stated where he went after the incident. He also stated the couple of times where he was seen by law enforcement. But got away. One of Billy's one time enemies a guy named Evans hired Morrison to look into a land dispute. Evans was the very person who told Morrison where Billy was living. Evans the guy who had hired Morrison told him that they were combatants at one time. So why would he make up such a statement.?
Remember Brushy ( kid ) wasn't looking for any fame or recognition. He just wanted his pardon an nothing more. He also wanted a PRIVATE meeting with the Governor at the time. They turned it ( government ) into a circus . Soon after t he kid died of a heart attack.

I would like to see more on this. He had no siblings where would they get the dna to match?

The kid was running out of New Mexico at the time, hearing Garret shot you would be a help
People were who they said they were then. There was no ID. William Bonny was an alias. A new name in a new town wouldn’t be out of the question

The problem with all of what you refer, is that Brushy is the sole witness to all the statements. Okay, Evans...when was i interviewed? where are his statements? Evans could very well be the instigator of misinformation if he could gain by Billy still being alive and able to settle the land dispute. All 2nd hand, very shaky info. What is not shaky...multiple witnesses to Billys killing, that he was present before...and very much after (dead). Myself, I dont have any brands in this fire...but inevitably with these potential missing people who ...show up decades later, someone has a lot to gain. Billys pardon? Does anyone really think he would have been pardoned for killing to deputies in his jail break?

A phrase could have been spoken by Crockett to alert Santa Anna to his request for mercy. A hand gesture / embrace would have confirmed he was a Mason.
My question would be why a good catholic boy like Santa Anna be part of the Masonic Lodge? Since 1738, Catholics were not allowed to be members of a Masonic lodge because the Catholic Church officially prohibited it. The Church considering the principles and rituals of Freemasonry to be incompatible with Catholic doctrine. The battle happened approximately 98 years later.
My opinion, for what it's worth is Davey Crockett never left the Alamo alive.
I know my X-wife wasn't as much fun or as good looking after I quit drinking.

I truly dont recall the source, but it was an interview on talk radio about 2 years ago. I remember because we were driving south on hwy 281, almost in Hico.

LD, the only question I can answer is to Crockett being a Freemason. I take this quote from the Ohio Grand Lodge website.
His Masonic Apron, made for him by Mrs. A.C. Massie of Washington, D.C., is the only proof that Crockett was a Mason. Before he moved west, Brother Crockett entrusted the apron to the sheriff of Weakley County, Tennessee. It was inherited and preserved by the sheriff’s nephew, E.M. Taylor of Paducah, Kentucky. The lodge in Weakley County, near the Crockett home, burned during the Civil War, destroying all the lodge records.
His Apron is still in the possession of the heirs of the nephew.

I think he was as dead as fried chicken. 
I read somewhere that Santa Anna was a Mason. His being recognized as one by fellow Mason Sam Houston is probably what saved his life. A bunch of Texicans wanted him dead, be it by rope or firing squad.
He was promised that pardon In Spite of killing deputies, this was a range war after all
And the witnesses at the time said it wasn’t Billy
Brushy Bill didn’t have anything to gain except a pardon, he was 90 and dying.
Facial recognition software gives it a 98% match
Evens sold his book with or without the pardon
The whole story sounds like an old man wanting to make right before the end.
