No, they are the RAW brand cigarette rolling papers. Same ones that come with the Guns of The West cartridge kit. I got them at a smoke shop here in town.

I've made bunches with regular coffee filters and never bothered to nitrate them.
I would imagine the OP's ignition problems are because of the Pyrodex.

The first thing you need to try is real black powder and everything else will probably fall right in line for you.
Don't expect much success until you ditch the Pyrodex .
With the nitrite coffee filters there's no problem. The ones I made are called envelope cartridges. They made from one piece of paper. Can cut alot when filters are folded and put under the template clamp. Crossen cartridge former. It's a whole system that makes it

Altoids ruined their tins when they stamped their name on the lid. Used to put them in the campfire to age them. Now with that stamp, good only for fishing stuff IMO
Anybody have experience with Hodgdon Triple Seven in their paper cartridges? I have a whole slew of them I loaded but haven't been able to try them out since I'm recovering from back surgery (the curse of geezerhood).
I've heard it doesn't work so well in paper cartridges. No personal experience with it though. Hope you heal up soon and get back to it

I do the same with coffee filters . Don't have issues with not igniting with black powder . I like them cause they seem more sturdy when handling them making them and less porn to tearing compared with cigarette paper or perm paper . My fingers are getting stiff so it helps . I usually make some up during winter when it's to cold to get outside .

The one thing folks should know is that the time it takes to hand load at the range, is a fraction of the time making the cartridges.
I made 100 and have had them sitting under my desk. I take 10 out every few months to see how they work with age.
I have 25 left. (some fell a part).
I also do them this way, it seems to be easier than straight rolling

Good technique but That is way to slow. with the crossen cartridge former I can make 4 to 6 in that amout of time. I will do a video on it one day. The crossen cartridge former cost more but it has so many more pieces and dies to do any powder charge you Want. It's unlike any other kit on the market. It doesn't resemble them in any way. It will have you producing cartridges like a pro.

I’ve only tried Pyrodex P and RS, along with 3F Triple 7 in several guns and never saw a difference between it and the black powder loads. I use Rem #10s.

Is it a Pietta? I’ve only ever read of Pietta making the loading windows too small for most projectiles. My Pietta Remington required opening up quite a bit. What conical did you try?
Yeah I got it a few years ago in a trade for cheap and just a lee .375. I think next cap and ball I will buy will be a Uberti
