    Matchlock long

Thanks for that Pukka, this shows a bit of before and after, some sections have the thin silver missing, and the cut out of the steel where it was hammered in is still slightly visible. I have a bit more cleaning to do on it and will post up all of it when complete. I appreciate all of the input...

I went a little further down from the breech with a bit brass cleaner and it's showing some real nice detailed etchings, I have a bit more to go, before we see what the end result is

    Matchlock long

Thanks Pukka I don't think the breech has any as I did as advised by wiping it slightly around, I did notice this bit towards the muzzle area I thought it was brass but now believe it might be a bit of gold, not sure though.

    Large octagonal barell

Hi all I think this is a hunting gun, due to the lack of a trigger guard and the proof mark seems to be from Holland, but I welcome all opinions. Thanks.

I found this marking the number 30 down the end of the barrel so i must assume it is a Belgian gun as I seen one similar with the same number on another forum which was also proofed as being made in Belgium

Hello Many thanks Dave, I am grateful for this input!! Brown bess for identification please

Thanks very much for this information I really appreciate it, It would be nice if it was an African trade piece, this did not cross my mind, although Nepal had, I was thinking that the original stamping was removed for some reason to prevent the maker from being identified, I note with interest...
