    Thoughts on my Frizzen?

They are being raided for their “low-background metal” as it was never exposed to the radioactive fallout and has no traces of radio nuclides. https://edconway.substack.com/p/the-eerie-story-of-low-background Thanks to @Compressorguy for the education. It was interesting to a newbie like me. Bob

Hunting accident in CT with a musket?

Agreed, most was a poor choice of wording. I am seeing it more and more here across your northern border which has become the land of the “misdafelony“ (misdemeanors with a 2-/12 year possible prison term) I mentioned the rifle season as they seemed to be hunting on private ground at some...

Hunting accident in CT with a musket?

I live just over the border and I hunt Connecticut but this is the first i have heard of this. ML season is in December. Generally when someone is hunting with a ML in the regular rifle season it is because they are prohibited from owning, possessing, or using a firearm. Bob Police: South...

CVA RB only, minnie or maxi

You have some strange rules down under. Re-check your twist rate as @longcruise said. I would guess it is 1:48. If it is it will shoot the Maxiballs well. Bob

CVA RB only, minnie or maxi

This. My Mountain Stalker is 1:48 and shoots rounds balls well over 80g ffg. It also shoots a TC Maxiball well. An OP wad improves the accuracy of the Maxiball a smidge so it’s worth using IMO. Bob

How do you pull back the cock on your flintlock?

Hunting many years ago during primitive firearms season (percussion rifles) one of the guys I was hunting with had his right handed percussion rifle in his left hand and was swinging it has he walked; fortunately he was in front. As the rifle swung forward the hammer caught on his hip pocket...

    Chronic Wasting Disease

I was always under the belief that it was contained in the nervous system tissue (brain and spine) so I felt there was some measure of protection in processing them bonelessly and avoiding the nervous system tissue and bone marrow…..until I read your post. If it can be found in detectible...

Question about shooting round ball in smooth bore

That’s what I would do. .480 ball with a thicker patch. Bob

Question about shooting round ball in smooth bore

I guess so. Not something I ever thought much about. Always learning something new. I got some reading to do. Thanks. What caliber? Bob

    Black powder or Pyrodex

In my younger and more foolish days I had limited days to hunt and would hunt in wet weather as I didn’t have the luxury to hunt when the weather was perfect. During the blue bird days of hunting Pyrodex always went bang without an issue in my cap lock and the accuracy was fine as long as I did...

Question about shooting round ball in smooth bore

Then go with a thinner patch or a smaller ball. Having a loose ball going down the barrel is going to hurt your accuracy. Bob

An interesting 32 caliber deer hunt

Another factor to consider is the hunt location. The further south go the smaller the deer get as they don’t need the muscle mass to get through the harsher winters we have up north. Bob

    Black powder or Pyrodex

One thing I can add to your search for the real BP is to check with the ML crowd at your range. Every range I have belonged to has a dedicated ML group that runs the ML shoots and such and they order BP in bulk as a group buy to save on the hazmat and shipping fees. Bob
