    Hard conditions to shoot in....?

Rifleman1776, Those were the conditions I had today. Didn't have the cracked and bleeding hands but they were numb by the time I finished. Going to do it again tomorrow too! HA

    Acceptable Accuracy with a Flintlock

Agreed, you must have the skills to do the best that the tool in yor hand can offer. That being said most shooters would shoot better with peeps over open sights and scopes over peeps. Good marksmanship is a skill. I remember when I was in the military we shot 600 m with peeps not well mind you...

    Acceptable Accuracy with a Flintlock

Some good shooting there fella's!!! I can only hope to work up a load as accurate. I do agree that the sights are major holdback to accuracy. Open, Peeps, Scopes all escalate the possibilities as far as accuracy goes. I guess we must do the best we can with the tools at hand. HA

    Acceptable Accuracy with a Flintlock

    Acceptable Accuracy with a Flintlock

Thanks fella's. That is pretty much on par with what I was thinking. I've started working on my 50 yd offhand shooting. I've managed 3" groups but I'm trying to get that down to 2" if I can. I find that the peep sights on the GPR help out a lot. HA

    Acceptable Accuracy with a Flintlock

Hello All, I own several Lyman flintlocks. My favourites are the 54 & 50 GPR's What would you consider acceptable accuracy with the flintlocks (round ball or conicals) of today through various ranges. ie 25, 50, 75, 100,..... 125, 150 or further :youcrazy:  I've seen that fella on...

Lyman Great Plains 50 cal. flintlock

Lonegun1894, A little piece of electrical tape will eliminate the 50. I like my .50 GPR Flintlock so much I went and got it a big brother .54 GPR Flintlock so it wouldn't get lonely. I changed out the vent liner with RMC'd vent liners and the rear sight with Lyman 57 peep sights. HA

    Stupid GPR question?

Being I didn't have a clue that it even existed in the first place indicates it was not a stupid question. So, not only did you learn something but I did as well. Thanks for asking!

    GPR Shoot Today

The GPR lock works fine in the Deerstalker and the Deerstalker lock works fine in the GPR??????? Maybe I mixed them up and just a slight difference between the two through a monkey into the works. :surrender: Thanks for all of your advice.

    GPR Shoot Today

Well I changed out the lock in my GPR and put in one from a Deerstalker and it worked fine. Something amiss with the GPR lock I fear.

    GPR Shoot Today

Thanks guy's!!! It worked fine a few weeks ago the last time I was out. I'm looking at the lock and I think I see the fly dangling like a six year olds tooth that just doesn't want to come out. Wobbly that is when the hammer is at full cock. At 1/2 cock it folds up and in. And when the hammer...

    GPR Shoot Today

It has stopped raining for a bit so I got out first thing this morning. I drove out to where I shoot and managed to get three shots off before the blackflies and mosquitoes start to feast on me. I really want to shoot today so I drive home and take a bath in some bug juice and return to spot...

    Lyman Deer stalker 54

I sort of figured good luck but had never heard that turn of phrase. Thanks halftail. P.S. Once I changed out the vent liner on my Deerstalker and GPR they fire all the time.

    Traditonal powder measures

zepman, I'd love to say I labored with a pin and ink but the truth of the matter is that I used a very period correct Dremmel tool and a Sharpie.

    GPR left hand ?

The adapter they are talking about is a leveling block which goes on the tang. It will work fine on your GPR. Left or right.
