    pietta 1851 colt high shooter

    Just took my 1851 Pietta to the range yesterday. Had replaced the front sight with a 1/8 dia. brass rod about 1/4 inch in height. Took a file along. Shot 5 rounds @ 25 yds. then filed the sight down. Shot 5 more, then filed. Repeated until I walked the group up from the bottom of the target...

    Cone Preferences

    I found that the biggest advantage to the Tresso nipples was that my #10 Remingtons fit without slipping off & don't slip off due to excessive nipple taper. I also shorten the nipples so they don't touch the hammer but still hit the caps. Veep

    Square or round?

    My limited understanding of this is that the round bottom grooves allow more consistent shots without frequent cleaning between a number of shots. The square bottom grooves (in theory at least) are easier for the patch to seal and, therefore (again in theory) are better for accuracy. This info...
