pietta 1851 colt high shooter
Just took my 1851 Pietta to the range yesterday. Had replaced the front sight with a 1/8 dia. brass rod about 1/4 inch in height. Took a file along. Shot 5 rounds @ 25 yds. then filed the sight down. Shot 5 more, then filed. Repeated until I walked the group up from the bottom of the target... -

Cone Preferences
I found that the biggest advantage to the Tresso nipples was that my #10 Remingtons fit without slipping off & don't slip off due to excessive nipple taper. I also shorten the nipples so they don't touch the hammer but still hit the caps. Veep -

Square or round?
My limited understanding of this is that the round bottom grooves allow more consistent shots without frequent cleaning between a number of shots. The square bottom grooves (in theory at least) are easier for the patch to seal and, therefore (again in theory) are better for accuracy. This info...- 2veeps
