    Iridescent lead?

Update: the balls i cast yesterday night are absolutely perfect and the lead is indeed very soft. Good to know that the iridescent stuff is mark of pureness. The seller also says it as pure as commercial lead can be. Maybe having 60 kilos of it and seeing something strange and unusual let grew...

    Iridescent lead?

I bought a rather large stock of roof cover lead. It is supposed to be pure lead, but tryng to melt some ingonts in my furnace this night I grew highly disappointed from what I saw. The lead looks iridiscent and continues to form a dark "skin" on top. For how long I skim it, no way to end this...

    Report on Pow-Ex

So I guess some of your parents had some business in NATO, right? If you find Pow-Ex I sure would be curious to see how it compares with the original Goex. Reading this group I got curious to put my hand on the american powder of choice, if Pow-ex is similar (as advertised) I maybe can steal...

    Report on Pow-Ex

I shot without being forced to clean due barrel fowling. But I cleaned once in a while and nothing particularly nasty seemed to happen. I would not say based on yesterday shots that Pow-ex it is dirtier than Swiss, sure it has a less unpleasant sulfure smell.

    Report on Pow-Ex

I bought a can of fffg, I wanted the ffg but only the fffg was available, so I remain stuck with the granulation equivalent to the Swiss N°2 which I shot until now. All in all a good thing for comparison. Visual impression: extremely good. Shiny black, I couldn't distinguish (based on memory)...

    Powex powder? Anybody knows?

Of course I'll try it. But as I am at the beginning of my learning curve, I am a bit cautios in my first purchases of powder. Buying one of two kilos now could mean being stuck for it for long time: once I'll have developed the right charges on the various distances and projectiles it would be a...

    Powex powder? Anybody knows?

So, the meaning is more or less that the powder is more "progressive". Does not send a fast "kick" but at the end of the 32' barrel the ball reached the same velocity. Like, say, a bigger granulation.

    Powex powder? Anybody knows?

Thanks. Could it be a good powder. On the Pedersoli leaflet there is a statement I find a bit strange. What does mean, in the opinion of the honorable experts of this group, that this powder develop same velocities as the Swiss powder but with less pressure? Is this possible?

    Powex powder? Anybody knows?

Pedersoli sells in Italy this powder. I wonder if anybody knows it and has ever used it. Tb

    Substitute for Goex Powder

Sorry, no. Slovenia is part of former Yugoslavia and borders with Italy. Slovakia is part of former Czechoslovakia, and is the country you are meaning. Tb

Lubing and sizing. Or sizing and lubing?

Great, thanks. Probably 45 grains are a bit on the low side to push some heavy conicals in 45 caliber. Probably the hunting tubes are a better allpourpose choice. Nice stuff, though. I didn't realize they were existing. Probably, for maximum convenience I should trash the long brass funnel...

    Pedersoli Mortimer

There are various versions -a shotgun (I think in dluxe and regular version) -roundball rate twist (two calibers, deluxe and normal, percussion or flintlock) -conical rate twist (two calibers, deluxe and normal, percussion or flintlock) Maybe also another version which is also for conical...

    Pedersoli Mortimer

A friend of me shoots with a percussion Mortimer. Very nice and very well shooting rifle. I see the one you show is a flintlock model. I am just wondering if the original Mortimer was percussion, or flintlock, or both. I would be inclined to think percussion, but sure the flintlock is a nice...

Lubing and sizing. Or sizing and lubing?

So, it is something like the paper cartridge was? Couldn't you post me a link? I tried to search "caplug" at TOW, but didn't find the thing. Tb

Lubing and sizing. Or sizing and lubing?

I'd like to put the lubed bullet aside for later use but when I came back to bullets my impression was that the once creamy lubricant was now a kind of dried whitish wax and much reduced in quantity.

Lubing and sizing. Or sizing and lubing?

Are those caplugs the same thing sometimes named as "speedloaders"? Tb

Lubing and sizing. Or sizing and lubing?

Have you ever noticed any difference in results with presized bullets?

Lubing and sizing. Or sizing and lubing?

At this moment my process is: lubing the raw bullet, which makes for a smoother pushing through the Pedersoli hand sizer I have and make a good batch of bullets to set aside. Before I shoot them the soft grease on the bullet (pedersoli grease, supposedly animal grease of some kind) will dry out...
