    Square patches

Isn't it just the same function as pulling the fabric tight in the middle to cut it off resulting in the bunched fabric with rounded corners. The lands are also square which may have something to do with it as well - I am sure there is some mathematical scientific explanation and I am curious...

    Powder residue question...

This does make sense I don't see it all the time - we do a lot of shooting during Sept. preparing for hunting season and it is generally lower humidity here in GA by then

    Powder residue question...

Just curious on this question... At the range I wipe 1x down and out as per Dutch method with a spit patch. Been noticing the residue having red spots on the patch. Is the red spots a byproduct of blackpowder combustion or something else - sometimes it is visible in the bore at the muzzle as...

    Aftermarket CVA MR brass fore-end?

I have had good success getting stuff from Deer Creek for my handful of CVA guns. It is my understanding this outfit bought all the old parts inventory when CVA quit making sidelock/flinglock guns. Not sure if they ship overseas, but definitely worth the phone call or email. I have received...

    Local find...any input appreciated

Thanks gents... After the first reference to Jukar was made I started googling last night and started to see pics with similar parts, but since I don't have a picture of the entire gun butt to muzzle I wouldn't have picked up on the stock swap. Thanks again for input and pricing points. I may...

Going to hold it this weekend all the info I have thus far is from the individual selling. Local find...any input appreciated

Found this gun local for a good price - seller says there is no markings on the gun - Anyone have input on it? Is their anything in the carvings or metal work from these photos that would lead to a specific builder? Workmanship from photos appears pretty good 45caliber Asking price is $250 -...

    Help - possible barrel bulge

FWIW my TC 50cal setups shoot best with about 60-65gr FF. Anything over 70gr begins to open up or become inconsistent and this is a couple different guns. And if hunting is what your after 60gr FF and roundball will shoot thru a deer no problems. I am of the opinion you need to shoot lower...

Reading PRB patches after the shot

Purchased a 50cal New Englander barrel second hand that is a little dirty inside - has some minor pitting, but nothing too severe and it really cleaned up pretty well. Only one range session thus far and at 25yards I had 3 in one ragged hole and 4th just about 1.5" left so the barrel shoots...
