Working out of a traditional tool chest?

Glad to be of service. I think I'll wait a couple of months and ask about the tool box again, pretending that I live in a tiny and very tidy condo....

Working out of a traditional tool chest?

Its the result of about 6 months of not working in the shop. I'll feel lucky if I get my work space back together by Thanksgiving. I'm thinking I'll build something along the lines of this: https://blog.lostartpress.com/2024/04/14/a-free-download-now-and-forever-the-anarchists-tool-chest/

Working out of a traditional tool chest?

My last real work space was an 80x80 aircraft hanger. I was spoiled.

Working out of a traditional tool chest?

This is why a "temporary" bench should never be made with full sheets of plywood. There's actually a bike frame under the canvas. with 6 months of miscellanies piled on top. It needs to go to a frame builder, get powder coated and built up before I can move on to other things

Working out of a traditional tool chest?

I've always been a messy bench type, and unfortunately the piling on has hit a point of being unable to get any thing done, as the bike shop has covered over the woodshop, and now all the gaps are being chinked with 18th century detritus.. And now I want to build guns. Its going to take a...

Paints for camp fixtures and furniture?

I'm going to be making a bunch of camp fixtures and furniture out of wood, starting with tent poles, a couple chests/crates and at least some sort of chair. I'm kind of inclined to shmunder all the wood with linseed and bees wax finish, which is a more civilized alternative to the WD40 and...

    Tent Stove Recommendation Needed.

I've got about 60 days of burning on a Kni-co packer. I had a modern tipi, so the stove pipe was about 12 ft long. The tent was only warm while feeding the hungry little beast. I was able to pack the stove and then damp it all down, so that it was easy to get going in the morning, but I also...

    Kibler Brown Bess?

I'll put a vote in for the British Officer's Fusil with a bayonet and a matching pistol. Of course an actual purchase would be way down the list after the yet to be acquired Fowler.

    Any bead collectors here?

I was into beads for a bit in the '90's. Recently I went through a boxojunk and pulled out a few that might pass as trade beads from the Americas. Besides having a bit of adornment, Id like to have a small supply of PC trade beads on hand that might be used for currency, perhaps earlier...

Who makes this small lantern from "The Woodland Escape"?

Thanks for finding that. I'll be picking one up. I did a little googling on "campaign lanterns" and that flowed into "trench lanterns" which includes a number of folding types. That led to an a mention that opinioned that the folding lantern developed not as something that could be folded for...

Who makes this small lantern from "The Woodland Escape"?

I was hesitant to ask Peter, but did anyway... He said It came from a sutler. I have yet to see him endorse any products in his videos, so I wasn't expecting any such.. I don't think I've seen one like that any where, but I've read discussions about how getting a small lantern to work well is...

Who makes this small lantern from "The Woodland Escape"?

I don't think this is in the standard "Indian" trade supply chain.

Who makes this small lantern from "The Woodland Escape"?

I've been watching Peter Kelly's "Woodland Escape" Youtube video's, and he had this little half size candle lantern in his "Trekking" gear. Any one know who makes this or where I can get one? Or the little trade kettle...

Salvaging wool from grubby motheaten blankets?

Just a quick update: Blankets where heavily moth balled for a month in trash bags, washed in the machine with warm water with dog shampoo, and dried on low. They are clean and don't have any mothball smell. I've got a bottle of cedar oil, and am going to put an "oily rag" in with every wool...

Best early "trade axe" commercially available?

I was thinking about the tomahawk style heads, like the upper left hand one in your picture, though I'm not sure when they started to be listed as tomahawks on the trade invoices.
