    .45 1863 Sharps Bullet Recommendations?

In one of Elmer Keith's books I think it was 'hell, I was there ' he talks about acquiring a number of sharps rifles back sometime in the early 1900s and getting cartridges worked up for them and making shots. This morning I'm actually lubing up a bunch of big 500 grain 45 caliber bullets for...

    time machine

A lot of the medications and medical treatments that exist today were not even needed back in those days. And a lot of us would not have suffered from so many things back then that we do suffer from today. No cars, cell phones, fluoride, canola oil or democrats They say thars somewhere...

    Ammunition for a muzzleloader.

Shiloh didn't start making Sharp's rifles until the late 1900s, the sharps you had in 1882 had to have been an original.

    Ammunition for a muzzleloader.

I am having fun. With the straight out of hell insanity that is going on in this country today I figure that you and most of the other brothers here can appreciate that I'm having fun with my black powder muzzleloader

    Ammunition for a muzzleloader.

So I got a handful of these today, not sure how authentic they are for early 1800s, looks like I need to pack them with some lubricant.

Were mzldrs and revolvers cleaned back in the day, as we do today?

A lot of little details never got recorded or passed on because they weren't necessary for the next generation. But still fascinating and an interesting part of our heritage

    Ammunition for a muzzleloader.

220ish grain bullet, beef Tallow for lubricant on the patch, 110 grains of 2f powder an At 300 yards it's really dropping. But I'm sure plenty of moose, elk, Buff , bear and even some of the smaller goats were taken at this range back with this load back in the good ol days

    Ammunition for a muzzleloader.

At 300 yd the 54 round ball is slowing down and dropping so fast I'm not sure it's practical to even try ranging it for that

TRADE .36 navy Brass backstrap grip fortrade

No they are just unusually shaped grips that the manufacturer of this piece made. Instead of a hogs leg they look more like a horse's hoof. There's nothing wrong with them an I think there's somebody out there that will like them on their sixgun.

I'm keeping the brass trigger guard but I'm wanting to replace the back part of the handle for a steel one. This is on a pieta, I never have liked the particular shape of this one, its snot quite the same as the original ones and I'm either going to sell it to someone who wants a little bit...

History, stories , folklore & tales

Have occasionally found some mention of what is called a short sword that was often carried to compliment a muzzleloader, Likely where the people who started making what became known as the toothpick got their idea from. All of the equipment that those folks used back in the days of black...
