Making Barnett N.W. gun for Ricky

All the different makers had to follow what the Proofing House records requested, the big purchasers wanted the builders to follow these guidelines.

    Smoothbore makes meat…

Nice buck, they are getting harder to find these days with prime ground going to the developers. Here's one I got a few years ago, shot near Estes Park CO. Heavy buck, well feed with a nice rack.

Is pure lead really necessary for muzzle loading balls or bullet in rifle or hand gun ?

I had a friend cast some bullets for my 40-70 2/10 Sharps rifle, we never found out until shooting on game that these bullets were cast from wheel weights (super hard, never expanded). They would make nice round holes in the game with no expansion. I had to shoot the games several times, if the...

PLAIN bag for a PLAIN old man ...

This is a voice talking from 70 years of experimenting with a dozen bags. I was told by relations that carried muzzleloaders in the woods providing meat for the family in the late 1800's. We all know how as kids we never listened to the old folks, we knew better ... I have had some really...

Bear Paws Anti Rust & Patch Lube

I have been using everything that Jonathan firm (Frontier's) has produced, very satisfied with his goods. Plus, he's a good friend that I trust with what he says.

    To the older guys…

I thought about that too, but I would need a double size casket. The wife already has my two dogs and two cats that have been cremated going with me. Maybe a very large casket is possible ...

    Finishing questions

We have used Aquaforte at GRRW and GRRW.CA for over 50 years and I'm not sure if getting the stain in the inlet areas was ever a concern. Aquaforte can easily be touched up if needed and blend into the existing finish.

An interesting dueling pistol looking for info!

The value is what the market will bring. You'll see guys ask prices that are sky high (listed for a period of time with no offers). After a period of time they are no longer listed. Go to the better auction sites and see what like pistols are bringing. It's a guessing game when it comes down to...

    Waxing rifle stocks

As many of you know I have been around antique firearms for 83 years (my whole life) my family has been dealing in antiques of everything. Clothing to Weapons and everything in between. They have used a number of oils and waxes to help with finger prints on fine finishes (as you know our...

    To the older guys…

At 83 I have the same problem, the wife worries about this too. I contacted a friend that has a gun shop in the area about this (fairest dealer I know). When the time comes to move the guns (antique and modern) he will purchase the firearms and ammo. That's the best deal we could come up with...

    That Evil Ember

Have a friend that was cooking over an open fire years ago (yes still wearing his powder horn on his side,) a spark hit the area of the horn. John was lucky there were others in camp to stop the bleeding and get him to a hospital. But he lost his right arm. Becareful ...

    Priming Powder, 4F or ?

On all my flint guns the touch hole has been enlarged to shoot 3FFF powder. One horn to deal with, simple is always better for me.
