    Smoothie newbie had a problem.

    My vise has 8 inch jaws and probably weighs in at 50#. When I used to work on unmentionables I would take 2 pieces of 2x4 8inches long and run a groove down the center and cinch the barrel in them. Took the barrel out of a 1916 Mauser, no trouble.

    1/4 inch steel ramrod

    As scar as finding a gunsmith to regulate the barrels, that is a specialty trade. I remember reading an article about Rigby rifles in America. The gentleman who regulated their double rifles here was given a special visa because he was one of the few people trained to regulate double rifles.

    Paper cartridges in a Tulle ?

    I use a French pattern paper cartridge. I load 70gr. of 3f and a 575. ball. I used Lehigh Valley Lube and was able to get 15 shots before any resistance was felt ramming.     Uberti Remington

    I have a Uberti Remington I haven’t fired it yet . My middle finger touches the back of the trigger guard, since I intend to use it for deer, average range is less than 40 yds I intend to load it heavy with a 200 grn WFN slug. I wonder if there is anything I can do to protect my finger?
