Old CVA dbl bl shotgun kit

I recently was given an old CVA dbl barrel shotgun kit. It had never been worked on near as I can tell. The stock carving and inletting is not good at all. The locks seem to be fine. The double trigger mechanism is low quality. The barrels look heavy enough and the breech plugs look tight...

    Can steel shot be used?

I use Bismuth or ITX original in my flinters and used it in a Pedersoli 12 ga dbl too.

    Left Handed Shooter

I too am a lefty. Some guns I have are left but my turkey flinter is right. I wear wrap around glasses when I shoot any of my guns. No problems at all.

Another quirky load for dense patterns

I have had the same experiences in an 11 ga flinter with a jug choke and a colerain turkey barrelled flinter. Thick wads not good patterns, card wads much better, with or without any kind of shot cup. But I never went thru the effort to properly record and evaluate as you have. Thanks much to...

    pedersoli sxs 12 ga questions

I had one of this model until I changed over to flinters. Shot pheasants, ducks and turkey with it. You will find a way to load that isnt a pain. I used only 2 thin cards over powder and one over the shot. Make sure to check the second barrel if you fire the first to be sure the second load...

    Hi from Wisconsin's hill region

I too live in WI and hunt turkeys for some number of years in your area. Turkey hunting with a ML is great! Ive taken one with percussion and two with a rock lock. Welcome to this forum!

    Barrel Bending Tips

I have used blocks and clamps on two smoothbores very cautiously to make them shoot to point of aim. No rear sight on barrels, just a turtle on the front. In both cases they shoot very well, including wing shooting. It is not rocket science, but a technique requiring some time and care. But...

    #4 or #6 shot..?

I have used mixes of #4 and #6 lead, and recently ITX and both pattern well out of my 62 Colerain turkey barrel and Ive killed two turkeys, neither was outside 25 yds. Try a duplex load . See what it does in your gun. Maybe Roundballs tuna can penetration test too.

Wood chicken. Me and flintlock in hand.

Nice pictures! Good shootin too. Do you use any of those colorful feathers for anything?

    choke for ML shotgun.

I also vote for jug choking. Ive done it twice on thick barrels with brake hones. Read up on the methods and GO SLOW. or have a professional like Mr. Caywood do the job. I think it would be $95 well spent.

    SxS triggers for a lefty

I too am a lefty. Doubles are not a problem what so ever. I conditioned myself thru practice and have enjoyed shooting and hunting with double shotguns.
