    Wash Pillow Ticking

Do you guys wash pillow ticking before using for patches? I know cotton drill has sizing in it but the gal at JoAnn's Fabric says ticking doesn't contain sizing..

?s about the small bore squirrel guns

I have a .32 CVA squirrel rifle. I think it's a good gun. Took me a bit to get it dialed in but at fifty yards now it's pretty tight. Like somebody else said, swabbing between shots really seems to make a difference. My best load seems to be 20 Grains of 3F, .310 ball with a .015 patch. I...

    Rusty Bore....What to do?

Would mineral spirits work in that combination instead of Acetone?

    32 cal crockett rifle

Deermanct, I'm hardly an experienced shooter but when I was trying to get my .32 dialed in I used .310 RB with a .015 patch and 20g's. Early on it was all over the chart, which was frustrating and made it tempting to start tweaking stuff, patches, load, how many shots before wiping the bore...

Pedersoli Frontier 32 Cal all over the place

Had this same problem with a .32 CVA. Same ball and patch size as OP. Just another thought though - is your short starter too big?

Newbie question: Who makes Hawken rifles, these days?

Thanks Azmtnman, the bulged barrel is a concern, especially if buying from someone that doesn't care or know enough to look for it. The reputable dealer approach and/or someone that is willing to offer a short inspection period might alleviate some of my concerns.

Newbie question: Who makes Hawken rifles, these days?

Has anyone bought something from an auction site like gunbroker and not received the gun in the condition it was described in? Any bad experiences? I'm itching for a nice Hawken style gun in .50 or .54 cal.

    Pillow ticking possibles bag

Great bag. I love making my own stuff also, bought some ticking tonite and am going to lay one out. Did you smear beeswax on it for any waterproofing or not necessary?

    A Squirrel rifle

I have a Squirrel rifle, .32 caliber made by CVA, my dad got it for me when I was in high school. I'm just a plinker but really enjoy shooting it, cleaning it up, looking at it in my closet and thinking about the next outing. I think the CVA stuff is mostly thought of as entry level, but it's...

    Gun show revolver

Thanks Tac. Would chamfering the cylinder make it more difficult to shave a ring of lead from a Round ball? And you are right, he had it marked as a navy, which would be .36 caliber but I couldn't distinguish that with any markings, maybe the engraving scene on the cylinder would have given it...

    Gun show revolver

My local gun show was this weekend. Pretty disappointing overall, a traditional BP selection was almost non-existent. One guy did have a colt navy, pietta made, that was tempting for $135. But he didn't know the caliber and it wasn't marked on the barrel. He seemed to know little about the...

What is flying back at me?

Good luck in Phoenix, hopefully their firewood is softer, lol.

What is flying back at me?

Yea, that is pretty scary stuff. One of the times it happened I was lucky enough to be with my dad, who is hard of hearing. I'm calmly suggested he put down the rod and we make a move.

What is flying back at me?

What kind of range were you to the firewood? Must be a weird feeling to be shooting at something in front of you and hear the lead balls hitting things behind you. Kind of reminds me of my days fishing on the flats in Florida during the summer when storms are prevalent. When you suddenly...

What is flying back at me?

Do you guys think ricochets are common with lighter loads and smaller calibers? Have shot rifles for a while but I'm interested in my first BP revolver and looking at the entry level versions which always recommend using lighter loads, particularly the brass bodied models. I guess lighter...
