    Small Caliber Flintlock

RMCsports.com makes a flint 32. They are beautiful rifles and come with L & R locks. Someone mentioned buying a 45 and using it for both. Unfortunately we cant do that here in PA, small game must be 40 cal or less.

    Hello from Pa

Welcome to the forum. Though not a active poster, this forum is a daily read for me. Just over the hill here in Wellsboro.

    Sights

Check out the V peep made by RMCsports.com. I have the same problem, older eyes. It was either give up shooting or switch to something I can see. To answer your question, yes the Cableas sights will fit on the Lymans. I have both and at least the rifles I own that is the case.

Thanks everyone for their posts. You all have definetly saved me some money. I went back and offered him $200 for it. At first he wouldnt consider that price. I told him the info I obtained here and he said he would consider it. So, I will wait for him to come down or find a better deal. Again...

    Newbie needing info

I have the same Traditions rifle in left hand percussion. It shoots RB very well. I prefer a little heavier bullet so I use the Buffalo Ball-et, 240 or 245 gr I think. It shoots them equally well. My load is 70 gr fffg. Its a fun rifle for sure. Enjoy

    Left Hand Flintlock

I started shooting with a RH flinter. Didnt like it at all. Now have 5 LH rifles from Lyman, Traditions and dixie Gun Works. There are a lot of rifles available for the LH shooter.

    DGW Hawken set trigger problem

ok I appreciate all the info and will check it all out. On the trigger, the triggers are ok as I put the lock in my other GPR and it malfunctions there. If I put the lock from the GPR that works in to the rifle in question, it works fine, thus eliminating a trigger problem. Admittedly, my...

    DGW Hawken set trigger problem

Well I really dont know what a fly is. I have looked at both locks when they have been pulled with the set trigger and without. The one that malfunctions the small arm (fly?) doesnt go all the way back like it does in the good lock. I could send this back to DGW but if it was something simple...

    DGW Hawken set trigger problem

Bare with me here if this has been discussed before, I am realatively new to this forum. I have a DGW 50 cal, made by investarms, and the set trigger doesnt work properly. After pulling the set trigger and then the main trigger the flint does not make contact with the frizzen. Operating the main...

    Lyman Rifles

They are made by Hornady, 240 gr for 50 cal. They sell them on their web site if you cant find them locally. As brushmaster said, they are supposedly designed for the slower twist barrels. They shoot well in my deerstalker as well (1:48)

Clean out screw on Lyman GPR breech?

Oops, I think you stated in another post your gpr is a 54, mine is a 50, maybe the difference.

    Sidelocks and Pyrodex Pellets

I have a PA Pellet and its designed supposedly to shoot pellets. Well it does, sometimes. I missed a great buck last year with this rifle, as that instance wasnt one of the sometimes. After talking to folks on several of these forums, I switched to real BP and have had no problem since. I would...

How does a lyman GPR compare to an ...

Rex thats a tough one. As season opens here tomorrow I have been shooting a lot. Where I live in North Central PA its pretty rugged country so that dictates what I hunt with. If I am sitting most of the day I like the GPR cap lock, if I am doing a lot of walking I like the lighter and shorter...

Are Traditions a good value for the price?

I have a Traditions hawkens and love the rifle. It shoots great and have had no problem with it. Though its not as well built as my lymans, the deer I have killed with it dont know the difference. Mine was built in Spain not Italy.

Has anyone put fiber optic sights on a GPR?

As someone already mentioned. The sight from RMCsports.com works real well. I use their V-peep on both my GPRs and deerstalker. The particualr peep is even legal here in PA in the late ml season as its is technically an open sight.

How does a lyman GPR compare to an ...

I have three Lymans, a GPR in flint and percussion and a deerstalker in flint. All 50 cal, and all left handed models. I dont think you can beat them for the money. That said, Dixie Gun Works sells a hawken model made by the same company that makes the Lymans, Investarms. I just picked up one...
