I am looking to get a 54 Lyman Plains Rifle. I am pretty sure that I will put fiber optic sights on it. Will the sights from the Cabelas Hawken rifles fit on the Lyman? I have heard that the are both made by investment arms, is this true? Thanks for your help.

They are both made by Investarms but if they are interchangeable i don't know. Unless you have an eye problem and really need the fiber optic sights, why would you want to put a set on a GPR?

I do have a problem seeing with open sights. I have had to put fiber optic sights on all of my rifles with open sights.

Then by all means put some on. Better to be able to see the sights and continue to be able to shoot than try to be PC and have to give up shooting.

I'm sure both rifles us a 3/8" dovetail, but get that size and if your rifle uses the metric dovetail just file the 3/8" down to size. :results:

Lyman makes a peep type sight for the GPR that is very good for old eyes like mine! I have one on my cap lock .54 and it lets me see the sights again.

Check out the V peep made by RMCsports.com. I have the same problem, older eyes. It was either give up shooting or switch to something I can see. To answer your question, yes the Cableas sights will fit on the Lymans. I have both and at least the rifles I own that is the case.
