    I picked up some 275Grain Maxi-Hunters that's what they recommended in the gun manual so that's what I went with :grin: going to blow some smoke on Sunday! gunna try them out compared to the "ol" patch and round ball

    I was using the traditions brand English flints and both in the pack didn't work, went to a local shop to pick two more packs up in different shapes and bingo its a thinner longer one that just clears the frizzen, 2 outa the six clear good, are these numbers fairly common with flints 1/3rd fit...

    I installed the flint and now at half cock the flint is far enough that o could prob put 2 credit cards in between the frizzen and the flint, and when I release the trigger the flint does not go all the way down it gets caught up on the bottom of the frizzen, and I have tried multiple positions...

    would it hurt my hawkens woodsman.50cal to practice with just powder in the flashpan? I wanna get used to not flinching everytime the rifle is fired and the flash pan ignites.. and should I use about 1/3 of a pan to do this? thanks guys

    yes, but I was asking if u can use ffg BP in the barrel and pyrodex FFFg in the flashpan, and I guess its a bad idea to mix the two of them so I gotta try and track down some 4f black powder, its killing me that I cant shoot the gun yet, wonder if I could get to be a descent shot by nov gun...

    ya goex bp ffffg is real hard to find, coulda bought some at the cabelas in Saskatoon but traveling to alberta with a volatile load doesn't sound fun to me... on another note, could someone post a pic of how to place the flint and the correct angle its supposed to be at
