    Round Ball or Conical

I have had good experiences getting RB's to fly good but not conicals. I have shot a couple deer with RB's and my ranges were under 80 yards. I wish I could get conicals to shoot better but for deer I haven't found them needed. :m2c:

    ML for 11 year old

Yes they are sdjustable factory but I would check in to a fixed. It wouldn't take much to bump these off. I will be adding new sight by next season.

    ML for 11 year old

My son uses a CVA youth gun and he just harvested his first deer with a patch and ball over 70 gr of Pyrodex RS. It shoots 2" groups at 50 yards.

    Boy's First Deer

In Ohio this weekend was a statewide youth hunt for deer and my youngest son who is nine, shot a yearling doe. He used his CVA Youth Hunter .50 cal with a roundball over 70 gr of Pyrodex to make the 47 yd running spine shot. Not where I teach to shoot at but he said he didn't look at the sights...

    Roundball Question

My son will be hunting with his .50 cal CVA Youth Hunter percussion rifle this weekend. He is nine so I'm trying to find a happy medium concerning recoil. With a 50 yd zero, is a patched roundball atop 70 gr Pyro RS enough punch for deer to say 60 yards with lung shots?

    Hangfires and misfires...

Today I took my son's two CVA's out and fired each about 20 times with no hangfires at all. Thanks for everyone's input. sduve

    Hangfires and misfires...

Thanks for the replies fellas. My rifles all have after-market nipples on them. I have been swabing a bit with homemade BB patches "TOO" often from what I gather. I will give it another try on Veterans Day. Thanks again. sduve

    Hangfires and misfires...

I am having problems with most or all of my sidehammer guns. Rifles include CVA, Traditions, TC, calibers .32, .36,. and .54. I have purchased scrapers for each cal. Small cal rifles are using Pyro P(FFF). .54 with Pyro RS and T7(FF). The hammer seems to be falling freely and I have used several...
