Today started at 3:40, after 4 hours of sleep, with the C&W station kickin' in a Tim McGraw song. I hit the button, got up got dressed and woke up Will. He had packed his gear the night before and was ready in no time. When I opened the garage door the cold nip hit me from the norther that was blowing in. Just gets me excited having that cold jolt preparing to go hunting. The clouds were blasting by overhead and the winds were gusting out of the north-northwest at 15-25 mph. Not good for deer, but a great way to start for me! The truck was loaded and we hit the road by 4:20. We had enough gas to make Fairfield so I stopped, grabbed a Coke, and we were on the road in a flash.

We made good time and arrived at the Love's Truck Stop by 6:10 am. We grabbed some breakfast bars and some drinks and were back on the road for that 6 mile sprint to the property. As we approached from the east the Northwest wind buffeted the cab of the Dodge Ram like it was a semi trailer. I stuck with my original plan and decided to pull to the west side of the property, enter via the oil company road from the north and then enter our proerty from the west. This would put us coming up to my final location near the front of the property from the south with the wind blowing in our face from the north-northwesterly direction

Nice Bobcat there, Docwells2000...

Now what are you going to do with it?

Some bobcat lined moccasins, a bobcat hat, a bobcat throw rug?

Docwells,
that is some very nice writing there. :imo: thanks for sharing you hunting experience with us!!
snake-eyes :RO:  :) :peace:

Musketman,

Actually having it mounted with a Wood Duck of mine in the leaping position. It will be an open-mouth mount with the cat swatting at the woodies back as it takes off. It will be a wall hanging mount, not a floor mount.

Only problem is that the taxidermist is so backed up he's saying it'll be 6 months to a year... Good thing here is that I'll actually be able to pay for it by then!!!

Thanks for the comment.

Great story Doc, and a nice looking Bobcat.. especially with a muzzleloader...

That's a great story Doc! Congratulations for two "firsts" - each of which would be tough enough, but it's one heck of a feat to combine them. I hope we get to enjoy a pic of the mount here in the future.
