    I have been out quite a few more times and have settled with a 70 gr. 3f load. Got very consistent groups from 25 and 50 yards with a patched round ball. Thank you all for your help and I will post pics of my harvest this season! Also, how exactly do you figure out the twist in your barrel?

    I know someone that the first time they took their .45 kentucky flint pistol out to shoot was more accurate with his ramrod then the ball!!!! Wonder who that was?

    yeah...we hit what?...63 degrees the first day of regular season last year. I even remember a couple days of the flintlock season in january that I wore a simple long sleeve shirt out.

    IMHO, I would make sure, even if you are fine with the setup, that you have everything safe!!!! That is the number one priority. You should be able to half-cock and have a small gap...like a slice of paper or two as stated before. Keep looking for shorter flints and if you can't find any...

    1.5 caliber! uses natural lube from potato....the potato serves as it's own patch...you just jam it onto the top of the barrel and it gets cut to an exact fit! little hairspray in the chamber...bbq ignitor....BOOM! puts a whole in a half inch slice of plywood from 40 yards!

    good news from the range!

    by real or other slug....the 40 grain offhand was with a lead ball. i am assuming the other slug was a conical. I bought that when i was first starting out. i'm all about lead now! I only shot one with a conical just to see if I got a different shot.
