I took my .45 kentucky flinter out and took my time. I shot from 15 yards, bench rest. I got a nice 3 inch group with .440 roundball, 20 gr. 2f, and a .015 spit patch. I then lubed the bore lightly with bore butter and cleaned after each shot. I was very impressed with the gun and myself. it was the first i was successful with it. I then used a conical and had the same results. I then bumped up to 40 grains and was shooting in the same group, and then to finish the day, I shot offhand from 18 yards and tada! same results...i was one happy camper!

Ain't it nice when things work the way they should and make you feel like a crack shot! Congratulations.

Don

Kudos to you :applause: I started in BP shooting with a .50 cal kit and still have and enjou shooting it. with that 40 gr load and the slug you have a potent weapon. is it a REAL or other slug?

by real or other slug....the 40 grain offhand was with a lead ball. i am assuming the other slug was a conical. I bought that when i was first starting out. i'm all about lead now! I only shot one with a conical just to see if I got a different shot.

I believe by REAL he refers to a specific type of slug. REAL=Rifling Engraved At Loading.

Nice hooting, young man!

Now please go out and infect a few other of your fishing buddies and bring them to the "Dark Side".
