    good news from the range!

I took my .45 kentucky flinter out and took my time. I shot from 15 yards, bench rest. I got a nice 3 inch group with .440 roundball, 20 gr. 2f, and a .015 spit patch. I then lubed the bore lightly with bore butter and cleaned after each shot. I was very impressed with the gun and myself...

    Disgusted with Plains Pistol

i have a .45 cal. kentucky flinty and had the same problems...all over the place. in fact the most accurate shot I had was with the ramrod! oops. I still haven't figured it out yet...but the advice I got was to use a lighter load...like 25 grains, the same patch, lube and ball everytime. I...

New Guy: CVA Hawken v. Traditions Deerhunter (Or Something Else?)

From a guy who only owns a cheap flintlock and have never shot an expensive flintlock, I have just as much fun with mine and shoot tight groups from 50 yards. I haven't tried any further yet. Shoots everytime and haven't had a single problem with it. Traditions Deerhunter. I know if you buy...

    kentucky/pa kit

thanks for the info guys....what about the traditions kits from the possibles shop? They seem to be on the rather inexpensive side. I know they aren't the quality as some, but for the guy that is going to shoot about 50 rounds a year and hunt in the PA after Christmas season, I wouldn't see...

Where you personally Shoot is the Range Controlled, or Uncontrolled

Southcentral Pa here...at the SGL's no R/O here either. Everyone seems to be very safe, although sometimes people show up with 5 or 6 weapons at a time and most do not follow the 3 shots in a rifle/6 in a pistol. Of course...this doesn't matter to me. I am planning on joining a private club...

    alternative to gun safe?

if you have a spare closet, you could drill a hole in the door for a dead bolt, with the permission of your landlord, or put a doorknob with a lock on it. It wouldn't be metal but you could also build one pretty cheaply if you are handy with wood. It's easy to make a rack on a wall..just get a...

    I have a problem

I agree with brown bear...I woulda jumped out of the way and asked him what the hell he was doing!!!! Or just be polite about it and remind him to keep his muzzle pointed downrange or out of harms way. Sounds like he has no realization of what he is doing though. If he takes it the wrong way...
