Best of luck and please let us know how it turns out. Woody

    A boys new gun

You are a man after my own heart. I hope I can build as well as you for all my Grandkids. (Only one so far, but lots of Nephews and Nieces.) Woody

Breeching a set of double barrels

+1 to Aprentice Builder. I think those suggestions are the way to go. Woody

    A boys new gun

I absolutely agree! The one I did for my nephew looks quite alot like this one (only not as good). It is certainly my hope that he will always remember that his uncle made it. Woody

    Hardening a Frizzen

Wick, what do you mean by "a short soak at temp" please? Is this a quick quench and then leave out to temper in the air? Or a quick quench and place back in the fire to slowly cool as the fire goes out? Or something else? Woody

    Deutchers Big Bore

Like they say - "It's yer gun, build what cha wants!" I think your supposition on what a poor farmer might have for supplemental feeding of his family is very interesting and quite probably true. I like the idea of a well built "parts gun". Woody

    Wood chisel set

I like using a bent chisel for removing very small shavings of wood from barrel chanells as a final step to inletting. Woody

Whatever happened to Wild Bill's lock?

    Crockett Kit

Years ago I built the Traditions 32. Cal Crockett pistol and it was alright. But the old adage "you get what you pay for" is very true. I guess my point is that it would be a very good kit to learn on. Woody

    Update on the Snaphaunce Fowler

 He's already alot better than me. I did finally finish the halfstock I was doing for my nephew. If I can get photos and figure out how to post them (and if I can get up the nerve) I will post some. :yakyak: Woody

T/C Hawken 50 bored out for smoothy?

Say John, where do you order your reimers from? I am looking at starting to make my own barrels (someday) and will need quite a few. Thanks, Woody

    My "Brookson"

Lookin' good! Wish I had some talent. Woody

    A decorated 17th century gun

"I am an amateur and not working for a client"... Ha! A technicality only. It's obvious you could do this and make a great deal of money at it if you wanted to. Woody

    A decorated 17th century gun

This was a practice piece???!!! :shocked2:  Incredible! Woody

    Trade Secrets

Zonie - "What little you know about building guns?!!!" This is one of those "You have more knowledge in your little finger than I have in my whole body" type of things. And yes, I do know the basics. I am one of those guys that reads all the posts on building that are on here and quietly...
