    ABOUT ELK/MOOSE/BEAR

In Oregon they had two hunts that over lapped each other. One was a special deer hunt and at the same time bear hunting was in full swing. Now my buddy and I were out hunting, completely legal. I had a deer tag he had a bear tag. A game officer stopped by and check out our tags and lic. he...

    Help with first ML

If I could respectfully add another option, just to add to your confusion . Look up www.austinhalleck.com, then look at their Mt. Rifles, if they peak your interest then e-mail Tom Lodge @ www.sunrisearchery.com(tell him Larry turned you on to him), tell him what options you want and he...

    MAX Charge

Of course we all know that pipe thread tape adds nothing to the strength of the threads...right? If your breach plug is working loose at all, I would be very suspicious of it :imo: If it were me(which it isn't, I know) I would send it back to the manufacture to have it checked out. But, hey...

    The Thompson Center EXPRESS .50

You may find that, using wonder wads, will cut down or eliminate your leading issues. They protect the base of the bullet, supposedly the heat and preasure of the gases cause a slight vaporization of the base of the bullet. That is why they are suppose to help with accuracy also. Larry

    Cut up a squirrel?

How do you cut up a squirrel(tell him a joke about a cottontail rabbit), no really, do you just cut it in quarters, fry it whole, what? Living in Oregon we don't get a lot of opportunity to eat many squirrels. Larry

    A "Tight" Load

Swampy11, It appears to me, and correct me if I'm wrong, that you haven't shot any of those loads? It would be immpossible to tell you which load will be best due to the variations in bores, rifling ect. from one rifle to the next. Even if the make and models are the same, they still exhibit a...

    Stock for Black Diamond?

Thanks for the links Zonie. I see that T.C. still offers the B/D XR with a walnut stock, so I'll call them for a price sometime today. Thanks again. Larry

How do you work up a good load?

The only other thing I could add, is keep a journal. Record temp, date and time, powder load, projectile, patch, powder type, wind, distance, ect... what ever you think is important. 60 days from now you will not remember where you started, so it'll be harder to see where you are going...

    Stock for Black Diamond?

I posted this over in the modern section, then got to thinkin' about and decided to post here. I'm looking to replace the plastic stock on my T.C. Black Diamond. Do any of you know of a drop-in wood stock, for this gun? I'd like a good laminated stock, however any wood is better than plastic. Larry

sighting inproblems in a cva mackinaw

As with any conical, even ballets, I get goods results by using wads directly under the bullet. If it were me, I would try that before I filed any more on the front sight. You can always file the sight down some more, but, if you go too far it's a pain to bring it back, not impossible but a pain...

    A "Tight" Load

While you are messing around with the ball and patch, looking for that ever elusive "perfect load" ::, be sure that, as you go up or down with your powder, take the time to load up your measure the same way each time. What I mean is, if you're going to tap and settle the powder then use the same...
