    Enlarging Touch Hole

Mine is 5/64. Accuracy and ignition is not a problem. Neither is powder dribbling out. In fact the gun is an excellent shooter. Probably start smaller as others have said though.

    Lokc Cover

Made this lock cover for the late season. Hopefully it'll keep the elements out! Trying to figure out a better way to attach it so it'll be easy to remove for quick shots.

    Frizzen Stall

Thanks for posting roundball. I might do and attachment something like that on the next one. Would probably help to keep the lacing tight. This one should work as is, but definitely a good thought for the next one.

    Frizzen Stall

This is my first attempt at making a frizzen stall. Left a long end so I can attach it to my trigger guard. Gonna make a few more of these before I make a lock cover which is why I bought the leather. Found a pattern on here which I'm hoping will turn out good. By rancher00 at 2012-03-28

Hunt with clean or fouled barrel?

I hunt with a cleaned barrel. I don't like to leave my muzzleloaders sit with a dirty barrel.

    Gap Between Lock and Stock

Well I think I got it figured out for the most part. I put inlet black on the back of the lock and put it back in the gun. The only place where I could find it contacting was on the barrel. I thought "hmmm that's strange." So i put it back in and tried it again. Sure enough the only spot I...

    Touch Hole Cleaning

I take it out of the gun every time I clean my rifle. If its fouled up pretty good, I put it in a dish of warm water before cleaning it. Then wipe it off, run a pipe cleaner through it some, make sure it's dry, and then put some lube on the threads before going back into the barrel.

After shooting -- cleaning. There's the rub!

I don't really mind cleaning my flintlock. In fact it's like bonding time with my gun. Plus the warm water gets most of it out pretty easily.

One at a time. You'll never know what variable changed your results if you change more than one variable.

Lyman Great Plains 50 cal. flintlock

I have a .54 Great Plains Rifle as well and love it. It's a great rifle and accurate too.
