    I made this one from deer leather i tanned. The strap is beaded jute the darker strip is dyed with walnut. The button is made of hickory and the bag is sewn with artificial sinew. Sorry for the bad pic.

    Does a horn need nails?

    Most of the base plugs are glued in and the nails are for just a little added protection. you can add them with a 1/16th drill bit and brass nail or can use toothpick use a good wood glue before you install. i would practice on a scrap piece of wood

    You are correct a little color would be nice. i am thinking of scraping and doing a little shaping on the neck and dye it but i an still debating on it. my next horn i am going to use copper sulfate to dye the horn. What would be a good way to add some color now that its finished?
