    File Knife

the blade on this knife was forged out for me by a friend of mine on tradgang. this file was one of the first i bought when i started bow making over 10 years ago. i'm guessing i've used this file to make over 75 bows and i hated to throw it away when it wasn't cutting like i wanted it to. so...

    CVA 12ga. Shotgun??

as i said, i have very little experience with bp shotguns. i mic'ed the bore diameter at .715 which in modern shotguns would be between mod. and improved cyl, if it was choked. i have zero experience with cyl. bore. might be tempted to hunt geese as we have a no limit season that comes in...

    One shot, One kill

marmot, i had thought about doing that but i didn't know if a spring or something had come lose. heating stuff up is not problem. i hunt with cane arrows, but i'm use to straightening not bending. that will save some cash on having to buy some smaller pipes.

    One shot, One kill

thanks fellows! my rifle is a .32 pedersoli i dialed in this past weekend. had a problem with the ram rod sliding out while walking through the woods. if i have some time tonight, i'll take the rifle apart and try to figure out why. anyone else have this problem with a pedersoli? it looks...

    One shot, One kill

got home from the coal mine today and decided to do a little squirrel hunting with my new flinter. loaded abby, my nine month old dachshund, in the truck and away we went. we walked through a great oak hollow for a few hundred yards and finally saw a squirrel run up a tulip poplar. the tree...

    .32 cal Flintlock Tips

decided to start with 30 gr. of fff with a .315 ball and a .010 patch. the first shots hit way low with the factory front blade. guestamated how far i needed to come down and put a strip of tape below the tip of the front blade. those two shots went way high. readjusted the strip of tape and...

    .32 cal Flintlock Tips

i suspected that the swiss would be hotter. i have about three pounds of goex so i'll stick with that for a while. i just ordered .315 rb and .010 patches, which is what pedersoli recommends but i wish i would have ordered the .310's now. oh well, if combo is too tight, i'll find a thinner...

    My 2009 ML buck. "long"

sounds like it was a sweet hunt. wish we could glass for deer here in the south. i could barely make out my little buck at 30 yards hunting a clear cut.

    Flint Buck

here's a pic of my fist buck with my flintlock. killed two hogs last year with it and had a miss fire on about buck about the same size. took him high in the shoulder and he fell in his tracks. the range was about 30-35 yards in a clear cut. didn't see him until he was almost on top of me.

    Quilled Sheath

i made this knife in the spring and asked rebecca parker to make a mountain man quilled sheath for it. i think she did a fine job.

    Another Day Horn

thanks fellows! wish i had more time to make more horns, but my other hobbies get in the way sometime. fab, i don't know how many women owned horns back in the day. i do know that rebecca can hold her own. last time i was at their house, rebecca was swinging a pick axe better than any man i...

    Another Day Horn

here's another day horn i just finished for rebecca parker. i hand forged a staple and put a small twist in it while i was working on it. i handmade the brass stopper chain. i also scrimshawed a porcupine on the side to connect rebecca's quill work to her new blackpowder hobby. enjoy!
