My horn(s)

The next post you see here from me will be a picture of me jumping up and down on my horn attempts. At the rate I am learning to make and scrimshaw a horn, with these as my targets, I will be 150 years old. Great work Robby.

Jethro, Years ago I had a loose association with, a now well known, bag maker. He had seen these horns and asked if I would send them down to him, and he would enter them into competition at Dixon's. At the time, I didn't know anything about the Fair or its importance to the muzzleloader community, I was just making horns to suit me, and the way I liked them. I was shocked when he returned the horns, blue ribbon and the jury statement. Now I know the significance of that ribbon, and hold it very dear to me. He asked me to send him another horn a year or two later, All I had was a hunters blowing horn on hand. The returned horn had a red, second place ribbon and the jury statement. The critique was interesting, in that I was faulted for the very thing I was trying to achieve in the design of the horn, I knew to them it was a fault, but was happy to receive an honest assessment, and though to them it was a (-) they saw what I was trying to do. I sold that horn to a fellow in Florida and have no pictures of it, and don't know how to get a hold of him. Thank you all, again.I really do appreciate it.

Making horns was my gateway to the world of muzzleloading, and I never take it for granted.
