How fast can BP revolvers be reloaded?

I too have been in firefights. I was trained and trained, over and over again, before experiencing the first. I was not unprepared, quite the opposite. I behaved and performed as trained, though there was a pucker factor...We survived because we were prepared. As for combat reloading a B&C...

    1850? Scott and son shotgun

It's a cap box at best, no patches will fit and as it's a shotgun; not likely for patches. Maybe it is a continental trade gun from Belgium, but that's not probable, why counterfeit proof marks? Plus, the hardware is plated with German silver and engraved, wouldn't think that common. Being...

    1850? Scott and son shotgun

Well, it's old...no serial number and it got to the U.S. somehow and sometime. I'd like to assume Civil War era lots of guns imported especially for the confederacy. It is fun to shoot.

    1850? Scott and son shotgun

OK, now we're cooking with gas! It is an 11 gauge, but one barrel was modified and has a choke (tapper). The other barrel is a square bore....no taper.

    1850? Scott and son shotgun

So, Scott and Son may be the American retailer who imported it? Interesting.

    1850? Scott and son shotgun

THANK YOU. That's certainly a good amount of information, best anyone has given me. One barrel is a taper bore, the other is square. I only use shot or buck and ball in the tapered barrel. I have used a patch and ball in the square bore. So, any idea what the 17 MARK means.

    1850? Scott and son shotgun

I've tried before on this forum, no luck. Maybe this time someone will be able to help. I purchased this Scott and Son several years ago, it's a great shooter. I have not been able to determine the exact year of manufacture or the history of this weapon. It seems to be an early production before...

    Cleaning between rounds

Hello, Anytime I fire my BP rifles I judge when to clean by how hard loading becomes. Don't force a load, if difficult, clean! With patch and ball, be sure to use well lubricated patches to lengthen time between cleaning. I take a squeeze container of water and Dawn dishwashing soap and squirt...

    Pawnshop Prize!!

Captain Walker had Colt create the 1847 Walker. This used 60g per round and added distance to the Rangers ....Walker said that the gun was: “as effective as a common rifle at 100 yards and superior to a musket even at 200.” Yes, this was devastating for the Comanche and was used until well...

    Pawnshop Prize!!

Easy to clean...l use dawn dishwasher soap and HOT water. I remove my pistol grips and rise the pistols off in hot water, soap them up, lightly scrub with soft bristled brushes, and rinse them off again. Repeat till clean; if necessary. I place them on a cookie sheet in my wife's oven, preheated...

Do not buy an 1862 Police from Midway

I purchased an Uberti 1847 Walker from Misway earlier this year. When I received it three of the cylinders were rusty. I photographed it and sent the photo to them. I purchased an Uberti 1947 Walker from Midway recently. Upon arrival I discovered three of the cylinders were corroded. I...

    REMOVING THOSE BARREL MARKINGS

Hello, I only defarb those weapons I use for reenactments. As a reenactor I fall between a Farb (a reenactor who pays little attention to historical accuracy) and a Progressive (who strives for total accuracy). Thus, when I defarb a weapon it is to make it more historically accurate when...

    REMOVING THOSE BARREL MARKINGS

Nope, they are NOT firearms. Defarbing is perfectly legal. Antiques and replicas are not NFA. Although..I do keep the serial number, but I move it to an inconspicuous location.
