    fusil de chasse

I have a Centermark Tulle that I built 20 plus years ago. It's the only gun that I take to our monthly club shoots. I use it for paper, trailwalks, and shotgun matches. Only have to clean one gun! It's weight is, well ok to me. I guess that I am just use to it. I have shot it so much that it's...

    rainy days with a flinter?

What I do at rainy day club shoots is I carry my flinter with muzzle down and the lock tucked in the arm pit area. When loading I take a couple of cleaing patches and put them under the flint with the hammer down and the frizzen open. This helps to keep the pan dry. Then I load the main...

    Firing trouble

In reading all the posts. Sounds like your vent is clear. Firearm is clean. The only other thing to ask is are you useing real black powder in the main charge or are you useing a black powder sub.(pyrodex) The subs don't light off in a flinter with any reliablity at all. Just something more to...

    Coning Question

Let me try to clear something up. The "QLA" system which stands for "QUICK LOAD ACCURIZOR" is a product of the "FALSE MUZZLE DESIGN" (straight and parralel to the bore). It is not a CONED MUZZLE!! (Which is tapered) I think TC started doing this to make it easyer to load conical and the sabot...

    Coning Question

I think the idea behind the "QLA" is to aid in loading the conical bullet. This idea lets you engrave the rifeling into the bullet and protects and keeps the base of the bullet square to the bore when you short start the bullet. Also, when the bullet is forced into the rifelings and pushed on top...

    Micing Barrels

There is another way to get the dia's in question with out buying expensive ID. mics, or slugging the barrel with odd numder of lands. You might try useing a plug gauge the same size as the bore. Slide the pluge into the bore then use shim stock in .001 increments to find the land depth. (Kind...

    12 ga Pedersoli

Sounds like a doable temperary fix. It just has to hold the sear down in contact with the tumbler to engauge the half & full cock knotches. :hmm: :hatsoff:

Favorite conical bullet for fast twist barrel?

I aquired a 45-70 1-22 twist barrel. Made my own hoohed breach plug and misc. parts for a drop in barrel for the TC hawken. I cast the Lymn# 457193 (428 grain weight). I load 90 grains of 2f. this combo. does VERRY well in my gun. Recoil is a bit heavy, but what the heck, its fun to shoot...

    knapping flint

Sounds like a great way to knap your flint when the gun is unloaded. I'll have to try it. BUT. When my rock needs a knap it's always when its loaded. I dont want anything around that rock that will create a spark! So I use a piece or brass or antler to knap it useing the tapping or preasure...

How do you carry lubed patches?

I Don't use prelubed patches. It's just another container I have to look for in my shooting bag. I just tie a strip of pillow ticking on my bag. When I need a patch I lube it with good'ol spit, start the ball then cut er off at the muzzle, and ram her home. I think thats some what authentic...

    Position of touch hole?

In my opinion, the hole locations that you describe (center line of hole @ top of pan, or top of hole @ top of pan) will work fine. I think that what needs to be mentioned here besides coneing the back of the linner is the size of your touch hole. The size of your touch will make or brake your...

    To remove that QLA...

Goodcheer: I was QLA'ing my barrel's and freinds before TC was doing it. How I do it is to aquire a reamer that is the same size as the depth of your rifeling, or .001 /.002 bigger. I then spin grind the end about 3/8 back to .375 dia. Regrind the starter chamfer to 45 deg. Hand hone the...
