    accessories for C&B pistols

I've read some reviews of cappers, including the Ted Cash ones, and many complain about them. "caps turning sideways" like you said. Guess maybe it is better to stick with fingers.

    accessories for C&B pistols

only pistol I've got so far is a 3rd model Dragoon. Was wondering if there was a decent capper that would make it easier to get the caps on correctly. My fat fingers can do it ok, but sometimes I don't get it right. another accessory I'm interested in is one of those loading stands for C&B...

    Woo-hah! got the Dragoon!

I have the Uberti 3rd model dragoon. It's a blast to shoot. Mine drops the loading lever even with only a 30gr load. I agree about the comment that Uberti puts the markings in an out of the way place (under the barrel). Whereas other companies blare the markings all over the side of the barrel.

    Remington 1858

since pietta's are cheaper than uberti's... I wouldn't mind a couple of them. I only own one uberti, my first bp revolver. Not sure if I've seen a pietta "in person". Are there barrel markings on pietta's? One thing I like about my uberti, is that any markings are small and under the loading...

    revolver holsters

I'm working on a Dixie order. Got a few small items in my cart so far. Was considering adding this to my cart: https://www.dixiegunworks.com/advanced_search_result.php?osCsid=d13bad1ccf8af8f902f915d978d79b24&keywords=hl0401&x=0&y=0 I'd prefer the open top style, with the strap thru, but the...

    revolver holsters

LOL, I said the exact same thing to the cabela's guy... I was generally complaining about the lack of size info, what style/types of revolvers would fit, etc.

    revolver holsters

I was also a little worried.... mainly because I had to explain to the guy what size a Dragoon was, and that it was a SA BP revolver. I did in fact visit the hunter holster website (huntercompany.com) before I talked to Cabela's. I looked under their "Western Holsters" link, but didn't see...

    revolver holsters

I talked to Cabela's. This "black powder holster" holds "up to 8" barrels"...

    revolver holsters

wow, I don't associate Cabela's with cheap prices... but these are by far the cheapest holsters I've seen yet... Thanks! I looked at the walker holster, but wouldn't it be 1.5" longer than necessary for a 3rd Dragoon? Also, I looked at these two...

    revolver holsters

oops, make that uninformed, not uniformed. yeah, I agree. I get most of my info on internet forums, such as this one, and other quality shooting forums. edit: that reminds me, the place where I bought my first bp revolver (uberti 3rd dragoon), told me that a "nipple pick" was just another...

    revolver holsters

I'm surprised that a major BP revolver dealer, and a wild west outfitter, would give such an uniformed answer.

    revolver holsters

I emailed Texas Jack's about one of their holsters, and to clear up some "holster terminology" questions. They replied that "Right side, butt rearward" is called "Left hand, cross draw". I'm having trouble visualizing pulling a gun with your left hand that way. :hmm:
  14. B

    revolver holsters

let me get my holster lingo straight...I've been looking around on the web... "right hand straight draw" means... right side, butt back? "left hand cross draw" means... right side, butt forward? etc, etc

    revolver holsters

great pic! dang, all my life I've only seen butt-rearwards... hollywood you know...and TV. in the last 12, 13 years on the internet... I've learned stuff I never knew in my previous 30-something years...

    revolver holsters

the period flap holster linked to in Doc's first post in this thread (post #5) looks like right side, butt rearwards. Either way is fine with me. I'd prefer an open top, not a flap...like the slim jims. A period belt, and buckle would be nice too... I suppose a belt is a belt is a belt...

    revolver holsters

shortly after posting my question about "butt forward on the right side", I was reading "Percussion Pistols" by Bates & Cumpston, and they have a brief chapter on the very subject. Yes, they said it seems wrong at first, but that's the way they did it, and you get used to it, and it works...

    revolver holsters

I mainly just want somewhere to stick it when I'm at the range with the Dragoon and my other modern guns. plus... holster rubbing will make the gun a little more "worn" looking. It's too pretty now (new uberti). Yes, it is quite a hunk of iron. My first bp revolver. edit: butt-forward on...

    revolver holsters

I'm interested in a semi-PC holster that would be correct for a 3rd Dragoon. Also one for a Rem 1858. They don't have to be exactly period-correct holsters, but at least somewhat similiar to what was used back then. Belts too. I'm familiar with Texas Jack's offerings. What are some other...
