thanks, I'm gonna get myself one or two then !

    Colt Dragoon Nipple Wrench

I did google it, and found it at several places. So there is only one size right, and it fits the dragoon? I didn't see anybody showing "large" or "small" sizes for it.

    Colt Dragoon Nipple Wrench

    oops, I said "2F" above... I meant "3F".

    Colt Dragoon Nipple Wrench

thanks, smokin' & mykeal. The reminds me, the nipple wrench that I bought that isn't deep enough for my dragoon... I used the screwdriver end to tighten a few screws on the revolver. Some screws were so loose they freely turned. I BARELY tightened them... just so they would not freely turn...

    Colt Dragoon Nipple Wrench

will this fit a dragoon? I emailed Dixie, they replied but they were not sure... they did not have a Dragoon in stock to check the fit. http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?products_id=7624 The 2 reviews for this wrench only mention trying the wrench on smaller revolvers...

    Colt Dragoon Nipple Wrench

Ok, thanks. I'm new to the hobby. just picked up my Dragoon (Third model - uberti). Took it shooting 2 days ago for the first time (fun...!). Are the nipples really tough enough to get off so that nipple wrenches break or bend? Wow. guess I'll get 2 different styles for the Dragoon, and 2...

    Colt Dragoon Nipple Wrench

I went in to my local BP shop and told them I had a new uberti dragoon and needed a few supplies, including a nipple wrench. They sold me a "Revolver Nipple Wrench" and said it was the correct one. It was a Traditions I think. Turns out it won't fit over the nipples... its not deep enough to...

    Early T/C Hawken Barrels

my t/c hawken is from the early 70s. It's not at my house now so I can't look at it. I only remember the Thompson name and .50 caliber on the barrel, though. Not even a "Black Powder Only" on the barrel...

    Ox-Yoke / Muzzleloader Originals

ok thanks. It's just that my local store carries Muzzleloader Originals stuff, and sometimes its convenient to pick up stuff there, since I go there a lot for bullets, powder, etc for my modern guns. Didn't know if Ox-Yoke was worth getting. However, the online prices of ox-yoke seem much...

    Ox-Yoke / Muzzleloader Originals

Is this the same company? my local store carries BP accessories (patches, wads, etc) by Muzzleloader Originals. However, on the web, most BP sites talk about Ox-Yoke Originals... Packaging looks similar. I ordered some Ox-Yoke revolver wads from TotW today, but I already have a bag of wads...

    "accouterments"

well, ok then. I had never ever seen "accouterments". didn't know it was acceptable. I'll let Mr. Muzzleloader off the hook :surrender:

    "accouterments"

been reading a book by Sam Fadala. He spells it "accouterments". I've know all my life that it is "accoutrements". thought it was weird that "Mr. Muzzleloader" spells it differently than the rest of the world. A-cooter-ments just doesn't sound right :hmm:

    Set Triggers on T/C Hawken

I also bought a used tc hawken. So far, I've just been shooting with the front trigger. I tried the rear set trigger once, but it made the front trigger a ridiculously light hair trigger. Going by the instructions in the above posts, if you wanted the front trigger to be less of a hair...

Can anybody recommend a good PA long rifle kit

those Chambers kits look great! What's the "11% excise tax" mentioned regarding complete kits?

    Uberti pistol, new in box

very helpful, thanks! Answering your other questions regarding "other revolvers"... yes, several. I've owned maybe 5 to 7 revolvers over the years. My comments earlier were in terms of "bp revolvers". I thought they may have "their own" quality checks that might be different from modern...

    Uberti pistol, new in box

that's good advice. I don't know much about "feel" of BP revolvers though, since I never owned one or shot one. My "high prices" comment was not really the store's fault. I have been browsing their website, and I had my sights on a 3rd dragoon at $279. When I got to the store, they were...

    Uberti pistol, new in box

This morning, I visited Texas Jacks in Frederickburg TX, where Cimarron is also. Looked at many uberti/cimarron revolvers. I was disappointed in what I thought were high prices... oh well. Wish I had a couple thousand to spend. Looks like there is quite a markup from a stock uberti, to a...

    Uberti pistol, new in box

I'm going to go to Texas Jacks saturday... I'll be able to fondle many ubertis and cimarrons... Their uberti 3rd Dragoon is $279, so it's even cheaper than my local store who had it for $299.

    Uberti pistol, new in box

I love the look of the Original Finish Cimarrons, including the "pitting", but yeah, you would not want the bore pitted also... :( I'll keep that in mind next time I look at them. The store had one Orig. Finish revolver, can't remember which one, but it was quite expensive (for me)...

    Uberti pistol, new in box

I tried the haggling bit, but I only got "sorry we don't do that...". I'm going to pass on the display model 3rd dragoon. While I was there, I picked up a Cimmaron catalog... been looking at it tonight. Man those "original finish" revolvers look great!! too bad Cimarron doesn't have the 3rd...
