    Uberti pistol, new in box

ha ha, yep, I just HAVE to have a dragoon, an 1851 Navy, an 1858 rem, and maybe one of the pocket pistols... edit: I wonder if I can get the store go down a little on the 3rd dragoon since there's missing stuff in the box.... maybe 10 or 15 bucks... can't hurt to try.

    Uberti pistol, new in box

thanks for that info! I don't believe they had any other ubertis in the box in the back. They had a NIB Traditions pistol though. They are expecting in an uberti 1858 rem this week, so maybe I'll be able to see the items you mentioned... that is if they don't sell it before I get there...

    Uberti pistol, new in box

what comes in the box? A local store has an uberti 3rd Dragoon that I want, but it is the display model hanging on a hook behind the counter. I asked "do you have the box and stuff it comes with" and they said yes. They went back to get the box, but it was completely empty. They told me "they...

first timer - muzzleloader rifle today

the guy I bought it from is my shooting buddy. He has been shooting lots of years, he's over 70. He knows all about cleaning and maintaining BP rifles. He is giving me advice... I didn't think there'd be a problem asking stuff here also. I talked to him about it after I started this thread.

first timer - muzzleloader rifle today

well, I'm telling you... I'd like to keep it for myself. It looks brand new, and its from the early 1970s... so it doesn't have the lawyer gobbledegook all over the barrel. In fact, the barrel only has "thompson center arms" and ".50 cal" on it... doesn't even have "black power only"...

first timer - muzzleloader rifle today

thanks for all that info paul. I guess I should have used the ramrod for cleaning instead of my one-piece cleaning rod... There's a brass thingie in the patch box in the stock, I wonder if its a jag for the ramrod? I only looked at it once, but I remember it had a few bands. I'll pick up...

first timer - muzzleloader rifle today

ok, will do. I think I read somewhere on this forum that Triple 7 wasn't as bad as real BP or pyrodex, though. I need to buy some .50-cal patches this week. The .45-cal patches didn't really make a tight fit down the barrel. This weekend I'll run a couple dry patches to get out the CLP, then...

first timer - muzzleloader rifle today

I shot a t/c Hawken .50 percussion rifle today. first time I've shot a muzzleloader rifle. I had speer .490" RB, .010 pre-lubed patches, and some Triple 7 FFg. I shot with 50gr, 60gr and 70gr. I guess I shot around 12 times, no cleaning in between. I was shooting at 50yds. It was shooting...

Good Price For A 3rd Model Dragoon?

I live in San Antonio TX, so I've been to Fredericksburg many times. However, I did not know until recently that Cimarron was in Fredericksburg and Texas Jacks also is in Fred. I may drive up there on one of my days off in Nov. and check out both places. Is cimarron open to the public, ie: a...

lol, yep, I can hardly get him off his computer or my computer. Yes, you're right. I buy very few book anymore. I check the used stores sometimes for cheap books.

    general muzzleloading questions

what's a good "general" book on muzzleloading, not for me but for my son? He's an excellent reader, but if it's too "dry" he won't be interested. Lots of pics and not too deep. If its just page after page of tech stuff, he would be bored.

    general muzzleloading questions

going shooting with my son is probably my favorite thing to do these days. Motorcycles, cigars and reloading are my other favorites... Even though he is only 9 going on 10, he likes "the old stuff". I mean, given a choice between shooting an AR-15 and an old milsurp, he always chooses the...

    general muzzleloading questions

well, that sounds good. My son has shot a 30-30 (not mine) and it didn't bother him. I did read that BP is a "slower" recoil than the sharp crack of smokeless. However, I also read that triple 7 has a sharper recoil than BP or pyrodex... Guess I'll find out sunday morning when I go shooting.

    general muzzleloading questions

My son is 9, but almost 10. We have been shooting together for a while now, and he has shot most of my milsurps. He does not like the recoil of 8mm and 30-06, but the rest of my stuff he is fine with. I have no idea what the recoil of T/C Hawken that I bought will be like. I am going...

    general muzzleloading questions

yeah, I'm leaning towards the GPR so far. I can't stand the warnings & stuff carved all over the barrel though. That's why I was impressed withe the uberti revolvers I have looked at. They don't put that stuff on their guns. I think I remember they may have had "black powder only" and the...

I guess I should start with a percussion rifle. Maybe a flint once I get farther into the hobby.

    general muzzleloading questions

well, the used T/C Hawken I am buying (from my shooting buddy, who bought it in early 1970s) is in beautiful shape. I am buying it for $275 with all the accessories, a nice soft case, etc. It's for my son for xmas. I think he would prefer to have something "his own", in other words, I...

    general muzzleloading questions

ok, here we go with my first post, not including my "introduction" post. I want to get into the hobby. I just bought a used T/C Hawken (made in early 1970s) for my son for xmas, .50 cal. I'd like to have some shootin' contests with my son, so I'd like to get myself something also. I'm on a...

Hi from Texas - new here

Been shooting for about 25 years. Getting interested in replicas/muzzleloading/black powder. Back in 1980 or so, I built a CVA frontier pistol muzzloader, and shot it for a few years. Then, I bought my first gun, an original springfield Trapdoor 45-70, which I reloaded for (using pyrodex)...
