    Patches burnt through...but

I basically just moistened the patch by putting it my mouth for a second. Just damp.

    Patches burnt through...but

Distance was 50 yards, and wiping the bore with a spit patch between shots. I'm going back to the range with the patches I forgot this week and see how I do.

    Patches burnt through...but

So I took my Lyman trade rifle to the range today to raise its point of impact. I realized i forgot my ox yoke patches so I just used a regular cotton cleaning patch and trimmed at the muzzle lubed with a little spit. To my utter shock, the rifle fired all three shots into one ragged hole at 50...

    Recommend a reliable flintlock rifle

I second the Lyman trade rifle. It is rugged and dependable, shoulders and points great. Get it in .54, you will not be disappointed.

    Shotgun accessories

I use a U-view powder flask to carry and dispense my shot. Works OK with #6 shot, just don't fill it all the way, leave a little airspace so you can shake the shot in to your powder measure. I carry my powder in a copper flask I got years ago.

    Cardboard

I tried using cereal box for the overshot card, but on the first shot all the bb's in the left barrel rolled out. The cereal box card was just too flimsy.

    Cardboard

Hey folks, any of you use just regular old cardboard for wads? I've been punching them out with a sharpened 3/4 inch pipe. I was thinking of using 2 for an overpowder wad and then another for an overshot card. I took some test patterns yesterday and it seemed to work fine at 25 yards. Thoughts?

Tumbler and sear appear to be steel. The sear has a bunch of filing marks on it so I'm guessing somebody tried to do a trigger job on it and screwed it up.

    Navy arms SXS lock

The original parts looks like it was cast out of manure metal. I doubt it is weldable. It really irks me because the rest of the gun is very nicely made.

    Navy arms SXS lock

Thank you very much! I will reach out to them. So as I promised the update. The jeweler was not able to rejoin the broken part. I made a new part after a lot of milling and filing and drilling. After I installed it I found another issue. Somebody attempted a home brew trigger job on it and it is...

    Navy arms SXS lock

Just an update, brought the part to a jeweler. They are going to try and solder it. I'll let you guys know if it works, a few other people have had this issue as well.

    Navy arms SXS lock

So after taking the lock off the right side I've discovered my right hand lock bridle broken in half. :cursing: I've looked up all the usual suspects for parts with no luck. Any suggestions?

    Navy arms SXS lock

Mine was made by pietta, is the lock similar to the pedersoli?

    Navy arms SXS lock

Anybody know where I can find instructions on how to disassemble the lock? Just purchased this gun and the right barrel has a hair trigger.

    Percussion sxs kit

I know CVA made one years ago, but is anyone offering one for sale other than pedersoli? 800+ bucks for a kit is a bit expensive. I'd like to put one together on a budget.
